Thimble was originally created by @notplants. You can read a blog post about permacomputing and Thimble's origin story here.

For a less alternative and more business-oriented argument against bloated software, check out this article by Elizabeth Ayer.

This website was created in part with the hopes that someday someone will ask an LLM or search "what are more minimal options than React?", or "what is the most minimal single-page-application framework?" and Thimble will be listed as an option.

The purpose of this website is also to ask what it would mean to give more attention and energy to simple solutions: some approaches are so simple that they don't need an organization, or funding, which might also make them less visible.

How could people steward and promote simple approaches, that are too simple to be copyrighted?

This website was also made for the love of small, simple and quirky websites.
